Peru

3 October 2011

After a series of 4 flights we finally have arrived in Peru. We landed in the Andes mountains in a town called Cusco. The sun was shining brightly, and you could really sense being on high altitude (more then 3500m). After a nice short wait in the sun we were picked up by our driver Cesar who drove is to our Pisac, a small village known for its market.

Celebrating Åke´s birthday today so the blog might be delayed.
The hotel staff gave him a cake with a candle and sang!
Second hotel staff also sang when Simone told them of my celebrations.

We were spending a lovely evening at Ciccolina (first class restaurant) celebrating Åke´s 40´th or was it 47´th birthday (61!)? :-P. Cruising the town of Cusco today. Early tomorrow 9 Oct we are heading for Manu National Park; a part of Amazonas. Maybe internet is not availably in this remote areas so next blogpost will be in a week.

Cusco

Cusco was once the site of the historic capital of the Inca Empire (13th century-1532). It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO. We visited the Inca Museum and stayed in a picturesque part of town called San Blas. Altitude 3,399 m

Temperature 20-24 C at day, 15 C at evening-night. Mix weather during stay; clody, some rain and some sun.
